However, giant monsters known as "kaiju" appeared before long, and mankind was left defenseless. Kento Noroma, a high school delinquent, has exceptional fighting skills, which he uses for the wrong reasons. But after a close encounter with Nodoka Hayami—a girl who controls one of the similar beasts called "fukujin"—Kento aspires to become a fukujin pilot himself and use his talent to help fight the menacing kaiju.
